If you know you have ancestors who fought in the American Revolution (and even if you don’t), you’ll want to check out the Sons of the American Revolution Membership Applications which is freely open to search this weekend only at Ancestry.com!
Once you click on this link, you will be able to search the database. However, to view the detailed results, you will need to sign up for a free account, which is fine because they have a lot of other free databases there, too.
So take a peek at the SAR records – you might find someone you’ve been looking for or maybe a relative of your ancestors. Either way, this is a great resource.
